LeMone champions role of women in atmospheric science

In 1975, at the 55th annual meeting of the American Meteorological Society (AMS) in Denver, NCAR scientist Margaret LeMone organized the first-ever AMS session on the role of women in atmospheric sciences. The AMS Board on Women and Minorities was established that same year, with LeMone as its first chair. In 1992, LeMone became the first woman to achieve the rank of senior scientist at NCAR.
